Nature of Business

CTC/Canadian Test Centre Inc. is a wholly Canadian-owned and operated educational assessment service and publisher. CTC has developed three nationally standardized tests: Canadian Achievement Tests, Canadian Test of Cognitive Skills and Canadian Achievement Survey Tests for Adults. These tests are widely used by schools and colleges across Canada and outside Canada where a Canadian curriculum is taught.

Since 1980, CTC has acquired broad experiences in publishing, project management and large-scale data management. CTC has provided educational assessment services at the federal, provincial and district levels, as well as to colleges in both the public and private sectors.

Current major publishing projects that are in the development process include CAT·4, the newest version of the Canadian Achievement Tests, and Insight, a test of cognitive abilities. CAT·4 is scheduled for release in Fall 2008, and Insight in January 2010.

The CTC office is situated in Markham, ON. Demonstrated through decades of educational innovation and hard work, the CTC staff is committed to making a difference for educators across the nation. Though CTC has encountered subtle changes through its many years of existence, some key virtues and principles have remained foundational to our company; these are outlined in our mission statement.

Mission Statement

As an educational assessment service owned and operated by Canadian educators to service the educational community, CTC will:

  • publish and distribute only test products of the highest quality;
  • support teachers to make full use of assessment data;
  • continue to invest in Canadian research and development projects which aim to improve the measurement and evaluation of student ability and achievement.
