CTC and Dr. Lynne Beal, formerly the Co-ordinator of Psychology with the Toronto District School Board, have taken leadership in the development of Insight, an innovative cognitive skills assessment due to be released in January 2010.

Insight is based on the widely accepted Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) Theory and is designed with the view that it can be group-administered. Insight assesses the CHC-defined abilities known to be important for the development of reading, written language and mathematics. These predefined abilities include the following: fluid intelligence, crystallized intelligence, short-term memory, visual processing, auditory processing, long-term storage and retrieval, and processing speed.

Insight will accommodate group assessments for grades 2 through 7, making it convenient for administration in the classroom or other settings. The generated student reports will provide overall Insight scores as well as ability index scores.

Insight is currently in the tryout phase; national norming will commence in Fall 2008. The tentative publication date for Insight is January 2010 . Please track the progress of Insight by revisiting this website.
